October 2014 Connecting Co-Co Report

We have FAITH, IN our communities – Pilgrim; greater Redding; California; our Nation; our World.

This month through November 9th you will be asked, as part of Pilgrim’s 2015 stewardship campaign, to tell us your personal commitments to “make a difference in our communities.” Later in November we will help connect you with others in our fellowship who have similar passions and interests.

Tuesday, November 4, 2014 we have the opportunity to go to the polls and vote. Voter registration closes October 20th.

As Rev. Linda Jaramillio notes in Restoring the voice of the People, “for people of faith, the public arena we know as “politics” …is the forum through which we live out the commandment to love our neighbor as ourselves. Scripture reminds us over and over that building right relationship in human community and with God’s creation is inseparable from our relationship to God. Through just public policy decision making we can order our common life in a way that is faithful to our relationship with God.”

“When we wonder whether we should be part of the election process, we need only remember the witness of Jesus challenging the powers and principalities in search of justice for the least of these.”

How does God’s still-speaking voice for love and justice translate into your votes for specific candidates and propositions?
