Stewardship – Treasurer Cajun James reported on behalf of Bob Cross that the stewardship drive as of Mid December has 72 pledges for a total of $144,500, of which 27 were increased from 2016, and 7 new pledges.

Budget/Finance – Cajun reported that she is meeting with Bob Cross on December 28th to go over accounts and they will be consolidating attendance and giving reporting through Breeze online church software.

Cajun is streamlining Pilgrim’s accounting with income now going directly either to the Redding Bank of Commerce for the operating account or one of the two Edward Jones savings (capital) accounts. Checks are now being authorized on Sunday and it takes about one week to get a check produced.

French Country Market income and expenses (food, rentals, advertising, etc.) are about the same as last year with a final report to be completed January 2017. 20% will go to the church for use fee.

Bylaws – Article VI, Section 1 of Pilgrims Bylaws will be changed at the Annual Meeting next month to read “Council shall meet quarterly” instead of monthly. The current plan, to better accommodate Council members with young children, is to have the CoCo’s communicate electronically throughout the year, have two retreats and four full, in-person meetings after Worship and at other times as determined by the Moderator.

January Schedule Highlights:

Church Building Booklet – this item was tabled as we still have some printed booklets.

Council Vacancies – John Crowe reported that the Nominating Committee is still trying to fill three positions. They have two excellent candidates for Worship CoCo’s and an At Large position, but are still talking to people about Clerk and Vice-Moderator positions.

Time & Talent Survey – It was noted that the survey could have been more effective with younger generations if there was also an online function such as Survey Monkey. Council may have to evaluate “What from our tradition is worth holding onto in this time of rapid change?” as posed by UCC minister Nicole LaMarche.

Pilgrim Center – It was discussed that Pilgrim now has multiple outside users of the facility and needs to be more intentional about procedures (insurance certification, set up & take down fee, cleaning, damage, security, etc.); a uniform contract; and a better marketing identity. We may need a sexton to manage the physical aspects, along with our Office Manager responsible for scheduling and contract administration.
