August 2017 Council Meeting Minutes
August 16, 2017
The meeting was called to order at 5:40 p.m. by Moderator Tere Hancock.
The opening prayer was given by Senior Minister Ann Corrin.
Those present included: Ann Corrin, Barbara and Bob Cross, John Egolf, Kathleen Foley, Andrea Gibbons, Heather Hennessey, Glenn and Sarah Hoxie, Paula and Dick Kahler, Karen Lawrence, Tyler Shuster, Larry Solberg and Lu Trullinger.
Unable to attend: Elizabeth Betancourt and Cajun James.
There was no review and acceptance of previous meetings minutes.
John Crowe asked that naming delegates of the church be part of the Nominating Committee’s job. Following a brief discussion it was Moved, Seconded and Passed that the Nominating Committee submit the names two delegates along with the other positions currently considered for election or appointment.

There was a lengthy discussion regarding the dispensing of keys to people who use the church. The Building Co-co’s will establish a policy to be followed and presented at the next council meeting.
Connecting Co-Co’s Quarterly Report
Responding to questions regarding the naming of recipients of money raised by the French Country Market, the Connecting Co-Co’s indicated they would publicize the names of those Non-profits as soon as they have established the list.
Bob Cross, Financial Secretary
The Council received a report from Bob showing expenses versus income through July and the projected bank balance as of August 1st.
Cajun James, Treasurer
A report was also submitted by Cajun showing expenses through July against each budget category.
Madrigal Update – The contract has been approved and we are waiting for signed copies.
A discussion concerning Council and Co-Co’s meetings was held and it was Moved, Seconded and Passed that meetings would be held on the first Wednesday of each month at 5:30 p.m. Co-Co’s will meet in September and November and Council meetings will be held in October and December. Future meeting schedules will be determined in December.

It was Moved, Seconded and Passed that Lu Trullinger be appointed Clerk of the Council.
At the same time it was suggested that the By-laws describing the Clerk’s position be revised to more accurately explain what the Clerk is responsible for.
It was brought to the attention of the Council that Claudia Mosby, who is currently a Member-at-Large, has asked to continue in that position even though she will be moving away to attend seminary. It was decided that a new Member-at-Large should be sought that will be able to attend meetings. As a Member-in-Discernment Claudia will still be staying in touch with the church and through her blog.
Larry Solberg presented a plan for the 60th anniversary of the church to be held on October 8th, the Sunday directly after French Country Market. Following a short discussion it was decided to hold the celebration on Sunday, October 15th, there will be a lunch of soup and potluck salads and desserts followed by a showing of the Historical Society’s film of the church and Docent tours. This year, 2017, the 150th Anniversary of Frank Lloyd Wright’s birth is being celebrated.
Ann Corrin reported that the Pride Festival will be held on Saturday, September 23rd this year and those in charge have asked if we would consider being a sponsor at a cost of $50. It was Moved, Seconded and Passed that we become a sponsor and the cost will be charged to Social Concerns.
Ann Corrin ended the meeting with a closing prayer.
The meeting was adjourned at 7:55 p.m.
